Softball Sportsmanship
If you haven't already heard about this story, a girl on the Western Oregon University softball team hit her first ever home run and when she realized she missed first base and turned around to go back, she destroyed her knee and crawled back to 1st base. Unfortunately, there was no way she was going to be able to crawl around all the bases. Her teammates weren't allowed to touch her or she would be out. According to the umpire, a pinch runner would make the home run only a single, even though later it was determined that she could have had a pinch runner and it still would have been a home run. Instead, two girls on the opposing team carried her around the bases so the girl could have the home run. You definitely will never see that in Major League Baseball - that's for sure!

You won't see it anywhere at all... EXCEPT FOR SOFTBALL... and that is a shame.
I am 100% sure, as a person that has played little league through college baseball, that this would have never happend in any baseball game.
Kudos to those girls... especially since it was such a great act of sportsmanship that it was featured on almost every sports show on ESPN.
GREAT!!!
i am mixed on this. part of me thinks they did the right thing, part of me thinks they are jackasses. i am leaning 51-49 that they did the right thing. although it would have been funny to see the girl crawl around the bases.
will never happen in MLB...especially if its A-Rod!
maybe if Julio Franco were still playing and it happened to him they would bring out a wheelchair and have the opposing team push him around the bases so he can be the oldest player ever to hit a homerun in MLB history....AGAIN!
